f you are looking for some quick and easy spring cleaning ideas to spruce up the outside of your home and create curb appeal, you’ve come to the right place. Spring is the perfect time to make changes in and around your home. But, spring curb appeal should not break your bank or waste your time. There are ways to make your home beautiful without spending too much money or time!
What is curb appeal and why does it matter?
Curb appeal is the way that an individual views your home as they are passing it from the sidewalk or street. So, why does any of this matter? Ultimately, what matters most is the way that you view your home, but, it is nice to hear compliments about your house sometimes! Although you may not want people to constantly stare at your house as they walk by, it is refreshing to see that they can see all of your hard work being put to use.

Refreshing your garden
You could wait around for April showers to bring May flowers, or you could just plant them yourself. Whichever route you decide to take, refreshing your gardens around the front of your home will make your house stand out from the others in your neighborhood. Adding bright colored flowers, whether they are in pots or in a flower bed, will bring light (and eyes) to your yard. Selecting flower colors that compliment the color of your home can also be a great addition, and passer-byers will see that you paid attention to detail.

Adding a fresh coat of paint
Whether you decide to paint your entire house during your Spring cleaning process (inside or outside), or just re-paint your front door or shutters, adding a fresh coat of paint can help to bring life back to your home. Spring is often known as a rebirth, so let your home be born again by giving it a new identity. This is also a great DIY task that can be a family event! A well painted house can create curb appeal all year round, but it is always nice to have a refresh in the Spring.

Decorating for Spring
There are a variety of ways that you can decorate the outside of your house for Spring. You may be a minimalist, simple decor type of person, or you may be a “lots of bunnies and tulips” type of person when it comes to decorating during this time of year– and both are great. But, stepping out of your comfort zone this year may be a great way for you to rebrand your house and create curb appeal.
If you have been using the same Spring decorations every year for a long while, this year might just be the year for you to give away those old yard ornaments in exchange for some updated ones. Outdoor pillows for patio furniture, wreaths, or a new doormat are great additions to a front yard. Selecting unique items will also create curb appeal and leave your neighbors wondering where you found these gems.

Spring cleaning
Although not the most fun task, cleaning the outside of your house is a great way to create curb appeal and help your home to look fresh. Cleaning your gutters, power washing your siding or porch, cleaning your door up, washing the outside of your windows or giving the outside of your mailbox a rinse are all easy ways to give your yard a refresh. Although you may feel as though you live in an area where the weather does not affect the cleanliness of your home, once you see the dirty water running off of your house, you will believe otherwise.
Everytime the wind blows, it puts dust and pollen onto your house, although you may not be able to see it. It builds up gradually over time, tricking you into thinking that your house is just aging. Your house is not aging poorly– it just needs to be cleaned. Depending on where you live, you may have to do this more often than others. But, spring is a great place to start. In addition to this, when people walk or drive past your house and can tell it looks squeaky clean, they will be impressed!

Refreshing your lighting
A huge part of curb appeal is the way your house lights up at night. Is it dark and drab, or is it bright and well-lit? Not only is this an important feature for safety, but it also makes your house look refreshed and updated. Depending on how you choose to light the outside of your home, it can make it look taller, longer, wider– really, any optical illusion that you desire.
There are various options when it comes to choosing lighting on the outside of your house. You could line your driveway or sidewalk with lights to have a well-lit pathway, or you may decide to add lighting to shine on your house and make it illuminate your siding at night.

Not only will giving your house a refresh help you to get into the Springtime mood, but it will also add curb appeal and leave people pondering your attention to detail. Now is a great time to start thinking about how you can make changes for the Spring.
